Charts – 28 March 2025
After a busy chart last week, we’re back to another virtually dead week for new entries – though some of last week’s newcomers are heading up the chart.
Two weeks. Streaming is up by about a quarter from last week, and it has a massive 80% lead over the number two single (the previous number one, “Pink Pony Club”), so this is a big hit. There’s spillover interest in his other singles too: “Carry You Home” and “Burning Down” reached new peaks last week at 20 and 28, but now climb to 10 and 23 respectively.
“Ordinary” is still making slow headway in Warren’s native USA, but it’s reached number one in Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Norway and the Netherlands.
26. Leon Thomas – “Mutt”
Debut hit. This is the title track from his second album, and it’s been out for six months. It’s been climbing from the lower reaches for a month, but a remix with Chris Brown seems to be responsible for kicking it into the top 40.
And… um, that’s the only new entry this week. There are re-entries at 33, 37, 39 and 40 for Gigi Perez, Teddy Swims, Sonny Fodera & Clementine Douglas and Olivia Dean, but those are just records hovering in and out of the bottom end.
This week’s climbers:
- “Carry You Home” by Alex Warren climbs 20-10.
- “Nokia” by Drake climbs 19-12. This is more surprising – although the other Drake album tracks faded away quickly, “Nokia” has spent the last five weeks hovering between 19 and 20, and now seems to be showing signs of actual life.
- “Show Me Love” by WizTheMC and bees & honey climbs 38-14 in its second week on chart, which is a massive climb.
- “Love Me Not” by Ravyn Lenae climbs 26-19.
- “Dark Thoughts” by Lil Tecca climbs 30-20.
- “Burning Down” by Alex Warren climbs 28-23.
- “Sorry I’m Here For Someone Else” by Benson Boone climbs 27-24 (though it’s still overshadowed by “Beautiful Things” up at number 4).
- “Hometown Glory” by Adele climbs to 29 after re-entering at 31 last week.
- “Running Around” by Ely Oaks climbs 40-36.
The five tracks leaving the top 40 are:
- “People Watching” by Sam Fender, which peaked at number 4 in November, dropped out for three weeks over Christmas, and has otherwise been around ever since.
- “A N X I E T Y” by Sleepy Hallow featuring Doechii, which entered at 15 and lasted three weeks but has now been comprehensively overshadowed by the Doechii track it samples (currently at number 3)”
- “Toxic” by Playboi Carti & Skepta, after a single week at number 21. The other two Playboi Carti tracks from last week both drop, but remain in the 20s (“Rather Lie” drops 10-25, and “Evil Jordan” from 7-28).
- “FUFN (Fuck You For Now)” by Jade, after a single week at number 25.
- “Headlock” by Imogen Heap, after a seven-week re-entry run that peaked at 30.
On the album chart:
1. The Lottery Winners – “Koko”
Their fourth studio album and their second number 1 following 2023’s “Anxiety Replacement Therapy”. It’s here overwhelmingly on physical sales to the fanbase – streaming accounts for less than 2% of its chart points. The fact that there are 27 physical variants might just be helping too. The single’s quite good, though.
3. Deacon Blue – “The Great Western Road”
Their eleventh studio album, and their highest position since a greatest hits album in 1994 (though they did get an album to number 4 in 2020). For anyone who doesn’t know, the Great Western Road is a road in Glasgow. Time Out ranked it the third coolest street in the world in 2022, to the general bemusement of the locals.
4. Selena Gomez & Benny Blanco – “I Said I Love You First”
The single “Call Me When You Break Up” reached number 28. It’s Blanco’s first appearance on the album chart. For Gomez, it’s her second highest placing abum, after “Rare”, which got to number 2 in 2020.
16. The Horrors – “Night Life”
Their sixth album, eight years after its predecessor (though they released a couple of EPs in 2021). Their last three albums all reached the top 10, so the break seems to have hurt a bit.
